This Privacy Policy explains what information the Class of 2000 community site (the “Site”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are classmates running a private site for classmates, and we try to collect only what the community features actually need.

1. Information we collect

• Account and verification details — the name (including your name as it appeared in 2000, and maiden name where relevant), email address, and any evidence you provide so a volunteer can confirm you are a member of the class.
• Profile information — anything you add to your profile, such as a photo, bio, location, occupation, milestones, and social links. You decide how much to share.
• Content you create — posts, comments, messages, photos, marketplace or business listings, event RSVPs, and similar.
• Payment information — when you buy a ticket or merchandise or make a donation, our payment processors collect your payment details directly. We receive only a confirmation and limited order information; we never see or store your full card number.
• Technical information — a session cookie that keeps you logged in, and basic log data (such as IP address) used for security and to keep the Site running.

2. Member verification

Because this is a private class community, new accounts are reviewed by a volunteer before they can see classmate-only content. Verification evidence you submit is used only to confirm your membership and is visible only to reviewers.

3. Privacy tiers — you control who sees your information

Most content on the Site carries a visibility setting:

• Public — visible to anyone, including visitors who are not signed in.
• Alumni — visible only to verified classmates and family.
• Private — visible only to you.

Your profile also supports per-field privacy, so you can, for example, share your city with classmates while keeping your email address private. These settings are enforced when information is retrieved, not just hidden on the page.

4. The privacy-safe contact relay

Classmates can reach each other through a built-in contact relay. When you message someone this way, your real email address is not revealed to the other person and theirs is not revealed to you — messages are delivered on your behalf. This lets the class reconnect without publishing anyone’s personal contact details.

5. Photos and tagging

Photo galleries, the yearbook, and person-tagging let classmates share and identify memories. Image files have location metadata stripped on upload. If you are tagged or appear in a photo you would like removed, contact us and we will help.

6. AI-generated news

Some articles and newsletters are drafted with the help of artificial-intelligence tools and reviewed by a volunteer before publishing. This community content is generated from general and public information; we do not feed your private profile data or messages into these tools to write it.

7. Email and text-message notifications

We may send you email about your account, event RSVPs, messages, and an optional news digest, and — if you opt in — occasional text-message reminders. You can change what you receive, or opt out entirely, from your notification settings; every digest email also includes an unsubscribe link. We will still send essential account and security messages.

8. Cookies

We use a session cookie so the Site can keep you signed in and protect forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising-tracking cookies to follow you across other websites.

9. Payments

Ticket, merchandise, and donation payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal. Your payment card data is collected and stored by those providers under their own privacy policies; we recommend reviewing them. We keep a record of your orders (items, amounts, and status) so we can support your purchase.

10. How we share information

We do not sell your information. We share it only as needed to run the Site — for example, with our payment processors, our email/text delivery services, and our hosting provider — or where required by law or to protect the community.

11. Keeping and deleting your information

You can view and export your data, and request that your account be deleted, from your account data settings. We keep some records (such as order history) where we have a legitimate or legal reason to. Certain compliance records, such as a note that you accepted these policies, may be retained even after deletion.

12. Children

The Site is intended for adults (our class) and is not directed to children.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. When we do we will change the version and the “last updated” date shown at the top of the page.
